Liam Trotter and Oscar Threlkeld are due to return to Bolton next week, after respective loan deals at Nottingham Forest and Plymouth Argyle come to an end.

Trotter's deal isn't due to expire until Wednesday, but, with Nottingham Forest not in action again until their FA Cup tie with Queens Park Rangers next Saturday, the 27-year-old looks set to return to Wanderers on Monday.

The former Millwall midfielder was initially loaned to Forest in October and made a good start to life at the City Ground, scoring on his debut against Ipswich Town, but, despite having the deal extended twice more, spent much of recent games watching on from the substitutes' bench.

In total, Trotter made nine appearances for Dougie Freedman's side.

Another name likely to be at Wanderers' Euxton training base is Threlkeld, whose stint at Plymouth came to an end following their 2-0 victory at Carlisle United on Saturday.

The 21-year-old joined the Pilgrims in August and has impressed during his time at Home Park, scoring once in 16 appearances, as Derek Adams' side took control of top spot in League Two.

Plymouth are expected to come in with an offer that could see Threlkeld loaned back for the remainder of the season, although Trotter will not be moving back to Forest after manager Freedman confirmed he would no longer be exploring the option of a permanent deal.
