Conor Wilkinson will return to Bolton when his loan at Barnsley expires on January 4, 2016, bringing an end to a disappointing spell at Oakwell.
Wilkinson, who is contracted to Wanderers until the summer of 2018, joined the Tykes in July and marked his debut with a goal in a 3-1 defeat at Chesterfield in August.
That would ultimately prove to be the highlight of the 20-year-old's time in South Yorkshire. Of his 12 appearances for the League One strugglers, Wilkinson started on just three occasions and hasn't featured since November 7 - when they were beaten 1-0 at Altrincham in the FA Cup.
Barnsley boss Lee Johnson had been given the option of making Wilkinson's move permanent, but he has passed on the offer and the player will return to Macron Stadium following the New Year fixtures.
