Neil Lennon praised the application of his players, as they put off-field issues to one side to come from behind and claim a 1-1 draw against Brentford.

At the end of a day when it was revealed Wanderers players hadn't been paid for the month of November, Neil Danns' second-half volley cancelled out an early opener from John Swift as the Trotters secured a point in front of the live television cameras.

Speaking after the game, Lennon admitted the financial news had come as a surprise to the players earlier in the day, but thought they went about their jobs in a professional manner as they look to keep the club in the Championship.

"The players reaction has been good," Lennon told Sky Sports. "They were a little bit surprised obviously but you can see the reaction tonight, they gave it everything out there.

"I'm pretty sure the wages will get done and the investment will come into the club, so we just try to keep them quite cool and concentrated on the game and we've done that tonight.

"I'm happy with a point because it could have gone either way. We did alright in the first half, obviously a goal down but in the second half, we came on really strong and they had a couple of chances near the end.

"We had some chances after we scored and psychologically, the game changed after that. We were in the ascendancy and we just couldn't get the second goal. Maybe on reflection, a draw was a fair result.

"The attitude was brilliant. We lack a bit of quality, we know that at times but we can't fault them for their attitude and application.

"Things can change quickly in football, Leicester were bottom of the league for a long time last season and they ended up finishing really strongly so there's a lot of games to go and we need to start turning the draws into wins."
