Bolton will be without the suspended Prince-Desir Gouano, as they travel to Preston North End in a televised fixture on Saturday evening.

Gouano was dismissed for a professional foul in the 1-1 draw against Leeds United last time out, ensuring he will serve a one-match ban and sit out the short trip to Deepdale.

Dorian Dervite is expected to come into the side at his expense, partnering David Wheater at the heart of the defence, with Jose Manuel Casado and Derik Osede completing the backline in the two full-back positions.

Luke Brattan this week joined on loan from Manchester City and could go straight into the team, with Mark Davies an injury doubt after coming off at half-time against Leeds with an inflamed Achilles.

Jay Spearing will be assessed ahead of kick-off, as he continues to recover from a leg injury, while Dean Moxey (toe) and Gary Madine (concussion) will also be given every chance to prove their fitness.

Wellington Silva is unlikely to feature until January after tearing a hamstring in a recent game against Birmingham City, and with Tom Walker also a doubt, Kaiyne Woolery may be given an opportunity to make a first senior start.

Shola Ameobi could also be handed a starting role, with Zach Clough unavailable and doubts over the fitness of Max Clayton and Stephen Dobbie potentially forcing Neil Lennon into altering his plans for the former Newcastle United forward.

Preston boss Simon Grayson could be without club captain Tom Clarke for the visit of Wanderers, as he continues to recover from a shoulder injury which has forced him to miss North End's previous two games.

Paul Huntington is back in contention after coming off the substitutes' bench at Brighton & Hove Albion last time out, although there will be no place for Chris Humphrey (shin) and the former Bolton duo of Jermaine Beckford (knee) and Paddy McCarthy (knee).
