Bolton Wanderers stewards are once again at the centre of a row, after footage threatening violent behaviour emerged on social media.

The footage, posted after Wanderers' game against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, shows a group of stewards ushering a supporter away from the stadium, using expletive language to get his message across to the ejected fan.

Despite being aware that the incident was being recorded by another supporters' mobile phone, the steward is captured saying: "You are on Bolton Wanderers property and I am asking you to leave.

"I'll tell you what I'm going to do - I'm going to ask you nicely to leave because, if you don't, I'll drag you by the f***ing nostrils.

"Whichever one you want. I'm not fussy, your choice. Let's go - I'll drag you.

"Don't f***ing stare me out. I'll knock you out."

WARNING: The following video contains expletive language and may not be suitable for all audiences.

The latest fallout isn't the first instance of controversy involving stewards at Macron Stadium. In June 2014, Steven Maloney was convicted of assaulting 18-year-old David Golding and causing criminal damage to a mobile phone during a match against Derby County in September 2013.

That case followed an earlier incident in the same season, in which police enforced restorative justice that ordered another steward to issue an apology letter to Reading supporter Charlie Ditchburn.

Mr Ditchburn claimed to have stayed beyond the final whistle of a Championship fixture in August 2013 to applaud his team from the field, before stewards used excessive force to remove him from the stadium - with footage showing him pinned against an outside wall, shortly after being grabbed around the neck.

On both occasions, Bolton issued statements to insist the incidents had been dealt with internally but refused to comment on whether extra training or dismissal of staff had been considered.
