Jamie Thomas' progression at Bolton has been recognised by manager Neil Lennon, who named the youngster in the first-team squad for Saturday's draw with Nottingham Forest.

After top-scoring for the club's development squad during pre-season, level with Kaiyne Woolery on four goals, Thomas has started the new campaign with three goals in his opening two outings and has been likened to fellow Wanderers talent Zach Clough.

The 18-year-old, who has yet to sign professional terms at Macron Stadium, failed to make the substitutes' bench against Forest, but was given a first opportunity to sample the matchday experience with the senior squad after being allocated the number 40 shirt.

Thomas is expected to be in action for Iain Brunskill's under-21 side on Monday, when they play host to Birmingham City at Macron Stadium.
