Bolton's quest to strike a first goal of the season continues on Tuesday, when they face MK Dons for the first time at stadiummk.

After an encouraging goalless draw against Derby County on the opening day, Wanderers suffered a smash-and-grab League Cup defeat to Burton Albion last week before crashing to a 3-0 loss at Middlesbrough on Saturday.

With three blanks adding to the two that they ended last season with, Neil Lennon's side are presently on a run of five competitive games without a goal for the first time since March 1990.

After slipping into the relegation zone on Sunday, Lennon will hope to stop the rot while the campaign is still young and looks set to recall Zach Clough to the starting line-up after a slight injury restricted him to a substitute role at the Riverside Stadium.

Gary Madine was also on the bench in that game and has since undergone a scan on a tight groin, so Emile Heskey may have to start once more after completing 90 minutes last time out.

At the time of writing, Tim Ream's move to Fulham has yet to be finalised. His departure is likely to see Francesco Pisano's arrival at Macron Stadium confirmed, but Tuesday's game against the Dons will almost certainly come too soon for the Italian full-back.

Prince-Desir Gouano has shown no ill-effects of a groin problem he struggled with last week, but Bolton remain without the services of Derik Osede, David Wheater, Liam Trotter, Darren Pratley, Max Clayton and Tom Eaves.

MK Dons boss Karl Robinson will be without loanee Robert Hall for the visit of Wanderers, as Football League rules prevent the 21-year-old from playing against his parent club, although the former West Ham United midfielder has been struggling with an injury in any case.

Sergio Aguza, Cristian Benavente, Simon Church and Dale Jennings will all be hoping to earn a place in the side, while Dean Lewington and Carl Baker look set to continue from the off.

Bolton Wanderers: from: Amos, Fitzsimons, Gouano, Moxey, Dervite, Wilson, Taylor, Threlkeld, Holding, Wassi, Vela, Feeney, Spearing, Davies, Danns, Twardzik, Woolery, Lussey, Walker, Kamara, Clough, Madine, Heskey, Dobbie
