Wigan Athletic have completed the free signing of Craig Davies, after his contract at Bolton came to an end.

Davies, who joined Wanderers in a £300,000 transfer from Barnsley in January 2013, has signed a two-year deal at the DW Stadium and joins the Latics just 24 hours after Sanmi Odelusi headed in the same direction.

The 29-year-old scored 11 goals in 58 appearances during his time with the Trotters and was a major part of Neil Lennon's first-team plans, until a succession of hamstring injuries in the second half of last season prompted the manager into making the difficult decision of releasing the Wales international.

Having completed a switch to the League One club, Wigan boss Gary Caldwell expressed his delight at securing the services of a proven player in the third-tier.

"Craig's a powerful striker who has a proven track record in this division," Caldwell told Wigan's official website.

"He's an experienced player who will inspire those around him and we are absolutely delighted he has chosen to be with us."

Davies becomes Wigan's seventh signing of the summer, following in the footsteps of David Perkins, Richard O'Donnell, Craig Morgan, Donervon Daniels, Max Power and the aforementioned Odelusi.
