Bolton have stepped up their pursuit of Derik Osede, after the defender's release from Real Madrid's Castilla team was confirmed.

Osede, who had been at the Bernabeu since 2002, progressed through the academy system but failed to make a senior appearance for the 10-time European champions.

The 22-year-old was identified as a potential transfer target in May, after the decision was made to release Matt Mills from his Wanderers contract, but, contrary to speculation suggesting a move to Macron Stadium has already been completed, Osede has revealed a decision has yet to be made on his future.

Posting on his official Twitter account (@derikosede), Osede said: "After 13 years at Real Madrid, the time has come to say 'goodbye', but I will fight to make it a 'see you soon'.

"I have lived the best moments of my life in this club, where I entered at age 8. Thanks to the club, I am who I am today.

"Also, thank you to the staff (coaches, doctors, trainers, physiotherapists, delegates, cleaners and maintenance personnell) for treatment during these years in which I have personally trained and I have been professional.

"I wish all the best for the club of my heart. It was time to embark on a new adventure. I am very excited and eager to start the ball rolling.

"(My future) is close to being resolved but I have not signed anything with any club about my future.

"I will keep you informed. Thanks."
