Barnsley have agreed a fee with Bolton for the transfer of Conor Wilkinson, who has been granted permission to hold talks over a move to Oakwell.
Wilkinson, who joined Wanderers from Millwall in July 2013, made his senior debut in a League Cup victory over Bury in August 2014 and has since gone on to make a total of seven appearances at first-team level.
The 20-year-old committed himself to the Trotters until the summer of 2018 by signing a new deal in December, but has struggled to make an impact during limited opportunities under Neil Lennon and ended last season on loan at Oldham Athletic.
Lee Johnson, the man who twice took Wilkinson to SportsDirect.com Park last campaign, now finds himself in charge at Barnsley and has made use of greater financial backing to secure the services of a player who has shown glimpses of his potential in League One.
Although as yet unannounced, the fee is reported to be in the region of £75,000.
