Out-of-contract Bolton goalkeeper Andy Lonergan is closing in on a free transfer to Championship rivals Fulham.

Lonergan joined Wanderers from Leeds United in July 2012 but will depart Macron Stadium at the end of the month, after a three-year spell which provided him with 62 appearances for the club.

The 31-year-old, who lists Preston North End and Leeds United among his former employers, has been identified as Kit Symons' top target between the sticks for next season, with doubts over the long-term futures of Maarten Stekelenburg, Marcus Bettinelli and veteran stopper Gabor Kiraly.

Lonergan has held talks with the Whites and could be announced as a Fulham player as early as today, although any official unveiling will have to wait until July 1, when a contract will commence.
