Jermaine Beckford will join Preston North End in July, after agreeing terms on a two-year contract at Deepdale.

Beckford, who spent much of this season on loan with the Lilywhites, scored 18 goals in 31 appearances as Simon Grayson's side won promotion to the Championship, a record which included a hat-trick in a 4-0 victory over Swindon Town in the League One play-off final last month.

Despite finishing 2013/14 as top goalscorer at Bolton, Beckford failed to establish himself during his two years at Macron Stadium and will become a free agent when his deal expires on June 30, allowing him to formalise his switch across Lancashire.

Speaking to Preston's official website, Beckford said: "The management are a big reason. We just have a good understanding and relationship and it was a no brainer really.

"I had a great time last season and everybody here, the staff, players, have just been amazing with me and it's somewhere that feels like home.

"My aim is to get as high up the league as possible, hopefully push for promotion but first and foremost it's about making sure that we do things right, like we did last year.

"Last season was a great season for us and for me. I just want to make sure that I give everything that I can give and do the best that I can do."
