Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has opened talks with Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan, who could be set for a surprise move to Anfield.

Bogdan has been with Wanderers since 2007 and is the club's longest serving player, but will be out of contract next month and has so far resisted an improved £18,000-a-week deal to remain at Macron Stadium.

The 27-year-old produced a Man of the Match performance as Bolton played out a goalless draw with the Reds back in January, shortly before speculation of a summer move began to heat up, after which Rodgers moved to play down talk of any interest in the Hungary international.

After a difficult start to the campaign, first-choice goalkeeper Simon Mignolet ended the season with 13 clean sheets in the Premier League - one behind Golden Glove winner Joe Hart - but doubts over the future of back-up Brad Jones has left the Reds searching for a replacement.

Bolton boss Neil Lennon has placed his trust in Bogdan, after allowing Andy Lonergan to leave the club, although the delicate nature of the player's contractual situation could leave him without a recognised senior 'keeper in just a matter of weeks.
