Liam Feeney could soon make his international debut, after revealing Northern Ireland have been in contact regarding a potential call-up.

Feeney, who was born in the London district of Hammersmith, has worked his way up from the Conference to Championship football since breaking into the Salisbury team in 2007, but has never played at the pinnacle of the game, failing to make the grade with England at any level.

After learning of eligibility for the Northern Irish squad, the 28-year-old has expressed his desire to play international football but will seek advice from his family ahead of a friendly game against Qatar on May 31.

"There's been some interest but I'm still weighing up my options and hopefully it's something that will happen for me," Feeney told Shoot.

"I'd love to play international football for someone but it's important to my family so I have to talk it over with them first and make the right decision.

"They've supported me the whole way and I want to make them proud."

After a brief spell on loan at Bolton in 2013, Feeney joined the club on a permanent basis last summer and has since gone on to represent Wanderers on 51 occasions - scoring three goals.
