Matt Mills, Craig Davies, Andy Lonergan, Jermaine Beckford and Keith Andrews are among 13 players who will depart Bolton at the end of June.

Following the conclusion of the Football League season, Wanderers boss Neil Lennon has made no secret of his desire to overhaul the playing squad at Macron Stadium and has set about raising some much-needed funds by sanctioning the release of several of the club's highest earners.

Mills, who has captained the side for the majority of the campaign, joined the Trotters from Leicester City in July 2012 for a fee of around £2million. He made a total of 94 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals, and has been heavily linked with a summer switch to either Fulham or Nottingham Forest.

Davies, a £300,000 signing from Barnsley in January 2013, earned rave reviews from Lennon earlier in the campaign but has paid the price for missing lengthy spells of the season through injury - with just 58 appearances and 11 goals to his name from a two-and-a-half year period.

Lonergan's departure will come as a surprise to some, who expect Adam Bogdan to leave the club next month. Signed from Leeds United in July 2012, for a fee of around £200,000, the former Preston North End goalkeeper made 32 appearances this season before losing his place after suffering a concussion in a defeat at Nottingham Forest in February.

Beckford joined Wanderers in July 2013, with a nominal fee being passed on to Leicester City, but he struggled to discover his best form at Macron Stadium, despite ending last season as the club's leading goalscorer. After 16 appearances this season took his overall tally up to 51, which yielded 11 goals, the 31-year-old joined Preston North End on loan in November and a return of 15 goals in 30 games has ensured the Lilywhites are just 90 minutes away from promotion to the Championship.

Meanwhile, Andrews, who last represented Bolton in August 2013, will finally leave the club this summer, after spells out on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion, Watford and MK Dons over the course of the last two years. He made just 29 appearances for the Trotters, scoring four goals, and looks set to link up with the Dons in a player/coach role in the near future.

Other players to be released by Wanderers this summer are Chris Lester, Georg Iliev, Luke Woodland, Glenn Matthews, Ryan Sellers, James Ball, Carl Kennedy and Kieran Nolan.
