Former Bolton defender Paul Robinson has accepted his first coaching job, after signing a new 12-month player/coach contract at Birmingham City.

Robinson, who represented Bolton between 2009 and 2012, joined the Blues on an initial short-term deal after his contract at the Reebok Stadium had come to an end.

Two-and-a-half years later, the 36-year-old is club captain at St Andrew's and has racked up more than 100 appearances in all competitions.

Robinson played 36 times for Birmingham this season and had looked set to depart next month, but manager Gary Rowett has moved to secure the services of the former England under-21 international for another season, where he will also be utilised as a coach.
