Tim Ream won his 12th international cap on Tuesday, coming on as a late substitute in USA's 1-1 draw in Switzerland.

United States manager Jurgen Klinsmann drew criticism from Bolton boss Neil Lennon last November, after Ream played just three minutes of a 4-1 defeat to the Republic of Ireland.

After failing to make it off the bench in their 3-2 loss in Denmark last week, Ream was introduced in the final minute of normal time as the States threw away a lead to draw in Zurich.

Brek Shea scored in the final minute of the first-half, as USA went in ahead at the break, but the game's turning point arrived at the midway point of the second period when former Hull City and Sunderland forward Jozy Altidore was dismissed for foul and abusive language towards the Italian match official, Luca Banti.

Despite leading at that stage, their numerical disadvantage would eventually take its toll as Switzerland equalised with 10 minutes left to play.

USA failed to deal with a succession of corners into their box and, at the eighth time of asking, Valentin Stocker was the man to fired past William Yarbrough to ensure the game ended all square.

Ream, who had watched on from the bench as events on the field unfolded, came on as an 89th minute substitute for Alfredo Morales, in a move which is once again likely to cause a stir with his club boss.

Club commitments will deny Ream the opportunity to add to his 12 caps when USA play host to Mexico on April 16, but he should come back into contention for a place in the national squad for away games against Netherlands and Germany, on June 5 and 10, respectively.
