Chris Lester's Bolton career appears to be coming to an end, after he joined League Two strugglers Hartlepool United on trial.

Lester signed professional forms with Wanderers in April 2013 and made his senior debut as a late substitute in a 1-0 defeat to Leicester City 12 months later.

The 20-year-old, who has been capped once at under-21 level by Northern Ireland, has featured just once this season and has failed to make a matchday squad since Neil Lennon was appointed manager last October.

Blackpool were credited with an interest in Lester earlier this season and with his contract set to expire at the end of June, a move away from Macron Stadium looks to be the most likely option.

Lester turned out for Hartlepool's development squad on Wednesday afternoon, completing 90 minutes and scoring in their 7-4 victory over Scunthorpe United.
