Q&A With Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn Rovers supporter Mark Carradus answers our questions ahead of the 166th meeting between Rovers and Bolton at Ewood Park.

Wanderers go into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw with Reading last Tuesday, while Rovers held Liverpool to a goalless draw at Anfield on Sunday.

In our latest edition of Q&A, Mark shares his views on Alex Baptiste and Jay Spearing's time on loan at the club, why Jordan Rhodes has yet to seal a move to the Premier League, as well as which Wanderers player he expects to be on the scoresheet on Wednesday night.

Q: Under tough conditions, how good a job has Gary Bowyer done at Blackburn Rovers?

A: He's done a great job. Before he took over, we were in a complete mess and we had lots of average players with the wrong attitude.

He's done well in creating a young squad of decent footballers who seem to have the right attitude.

There are questions being asked now with regards to if he can take us any further, concerns around his tactics and lack of a constant game plan. He really doesn't seem to know his best team, formation and style of play.

Q: After being linked with moves to Premier League clubs in recent transfer windows, why has Jordan Rhodes stayed with Rovers for so long?

A: Simple really - nobody has matched Venky's valuation of him.

He is clearly a super finisher but I really don't think he has the pace or strength to be a success in the Premier League.

Q: Two of our players have been on loan at Ewood Park this season. What is your opinion on Alex Baptiste and our club captain, Jay Spearing?

A: Baptiste, on the whole, has been very good. There have been occasions when he has lost concentration at vital times in games, but his best performances have come when he has played in the centre of defence.

The verdict is still out on Spearing.

Q: Who is likely to win the Blackburn Player of the Year award this season?

A: One of the reasons behind another disappointing season is the players' lack of consistancy or form.

Ben Marshall had a run of eight games at the start of the season where he played brilliantly but has since struggled to show the same form.

The same could be said about Jordan Rhodes, Tom Cairney and Craig Conway. The only player who has been constantly good for Rovers this season has been Marcus Olsson.

Q: Who on the Bolton teamsheet will worry Blackburn fans?

A: Emile Heskey, as he always seems to score against us.

Q: Finally, what is your score prediction for Wednesday's game?

A: A 0-0 draw.

Burnden Aces would like to thank Mark for taking the time to answer our questions.
