Bolton will be without Zach Clough, Kevin McNaughton and David Wheater for the rest of the season, after the extent of their injuries were confirmed.

All three players left the field during the first half of Wanderers' 1-1 draw against Reading on Tuesday, sparking fears that they could have played their last game of the campaign.

They all underwent scans on Wednesday and the results showed Clough and McNaughton will miss the remainder of the season, while Wheater is facing eight weeks out with a hamstring strain - effectively ruling him out of all remaining games.

McNaughton was the first to go to ground against the Royals and scans have revealed a fracture to the fibula in his right leg, while Clough will begin rehabilitation on a dislocated shoulder in the coming weeks after seeing a promising start to his senior career come to a halt.

Wheater has an outside chance of returning to the squad for Wanderers' closing games, but is most likely to sit out until the start of pre-season in July.
