Bolton boss Neil Lennon has refused to rule out the possibility of Andy Kellett converting his loan deal at Manchester United into a permanent arrangement.

Kellett moved to Old Trafford on transfer deadline day, as the Red Devils shocked the nation by signing the 21-year-old on loan until the end of the season - with Saidy Janko moving in the opposite direction.

Having recently returned to Wanderers from a brief spell at Plymouth Argyle, Kellett linked up with his new teammates for the first time on Tuesday and, when asked whether talks over a permanent deal had taken place, Lennon said: "Yeah, just initial talks really. We'll see how both loans go.

"We heard their interest last week. We quite like Saidy Janko, who is a young player at Manchester United, so we made the call and the deal was done.

"Andy went to Manchester and Saidy is coming here.

"He was taken aback because originally he was going to go to Plymouth again, where he did very well, and unfortunately we had to ring John Sheridan and say there is an opportunity of a lifetime.

"We spoke to his father and I think he had to sit down for a couple of minutes just to get his head around it.

"It's a great opportunity for him and it will be a great experience.

"He thought we were winding the boys up but once we sat him down he stopped shaking and he was able to take it all in.

"He's small, diminutive, quick and balanced on the left-hand side and [could fit] if United are going to play with a back three."
