Oldham Athletic have completed the signing of Conor Wilkinson, on a loan deal which will run through until the end of the season.

Wilkinson joined Bolton from Millwall in July 2013 and, after spells on loan at Chester and Torquay United last season, made his Wanderers debut in their 3-2 extra-time victory over Bury in a League Cup tie last August.

The 20-year-old spent two months on loan with Oldham earlier this season, scoring once in seven appearances, before returning to Macron Stadium, appearing five times under the management of Neil Lennon - taking his total up to seven.

Wilkinson has struggled to adapt to life in the first-team in recent weeks, prompting Lennon to agree to a move that will provide the Republic of Ireland under-21 international with regular action in League One.

Lee Johnson, manager at Oldham Athletic, admitted he was 'delighted' to take Wilkinson back to SportsDirect.com Park after failing to secure an extended loan deal earlier in the campaign.

"I'm delighted to get Conor signed up until the rest of the season," Johnson told Oldham's official website.

"We've had him before so we know what to expect and he is a real good addition to our squad in this window."

Wilkinson could make his second debut for the Latics when they travel to Barnsley on Tuesday evening.
