Bolton have completed the signing of Crystal Palace midfielder Barry Bannan, on a loan deal which will run through until the end of the season.

After representing Celtic as a youngster, Bannan moved to Aston Villa as a 14-year-old and made his senior debut for the club in a UEFA Cup fixture against Hamburg in December 2008.

Following a nine-year spell at Villa Park, the Scotland international completed a deadline day move to Palace in August 2013 and has since gone on to make 27 appearances for the Eagles, scoring once.

The 25-year-old has struggled for playing time this season, with his most recent outing coming in a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on January 10.

After learning of Palace's interest in Lee Chung-Yong last month, Bolton boss Neil Lennon had hoped to use Bannan as a makeweight in any move. With news of Chung-Yong's transfer to the capital breaking earlier in the evening, Wanderers have seen off competition from Celtic to bring the midfielder to Macron Stadium for the remainder of the campaign.
