Manchester United have completed the surprise deadline day signing of Andy Kellett, who will spend the rest of the season on loan at Old Trafford.

Kellett, who has been at Bolton since 2002, progressed through the club's academy system to make his debut as a substitute in Wanderers' 1-0 defeat to Leicester City in April 2014.

The 21-year-old recently returned to Macron Stadium after a successful loan spell at Plymouth Argyle, for whom he scored once in 15 appearances, and had been tipped to return to Home Park for the remainder of the campaign.

However, following news that Saidy Janko will spend the remainder of the campaign on loan at Bolton, United have opted to provide Kellett with an opportunity to impress at development squad level after sending Marnick Vermilj to Sheffield Wednesday.

Kellett has made four senior appearances for Wanderers and is expected to return to the club in the summer, before pushing himself for a first-team position under the management of Neil Lennon.
