Bolton have completed the signing of Adam Le Fondre, who has signed a loan deal that will keep him at Macron Stadium until the end of the season.

Le Fondre, who joins Wanderers from Cardiff City, had looked set to link up with the Trotters on Friday but it would now appear that Joe Mason's return to the Bluebirds has been made official - keeping Neil Lennon clear of trouble, as Football League rules prevent clubs from loaning more than two players from the same side.

The move, which is subject to international clearance, will see the 28-year-old move closer to his family home in Stockport and boost Wanderers' attacking options with a proven Championship goalscorer.

Le Fondre scored 41 goals in 110 appearances during a three-year spell at Reading, but failed to reach the same heights following his move to Cardiff last summer. He scored just three times in 25 outings for Russell Slade's side, but will hope to recapture his previous form under the management of Lennon.

He won't be eligible to face his former club, Rotherham United, on Tuesday night, but is expected to come into contention for Saturday's home game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Le Fondre will wear the number nine shirt during his time with Bolton.
