Bolton goalkeeper Paddy Kenny is reportedly on the verge of joining Championship rivals Ipswich Town on a short-term loan deal.

Kenny joined Wanderers in September, being drafted in as cover for Andy Lonergan after Adam Bogdan had been ruled out for two months with a fractured finger he sustained in a freak training ground incident.

The 36-year-old, who conceded 15 goals in four games during a recent spell on loan at Oldham Athletic, returned to Macron Stadium on January 5 but isn't currently under consideration for development squad matches - with Iain Brunskill and Andy Hughes instead preferring to nurture the talents of Ross Fitzsimons.

With Dean Gerken ruled out for a month with a hip injury, Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy is looking to bolster his goalkeeping options after naming 19-year-old Michael Crowe on the substitutes' bench for Saturday's 3-1 victory at Millwall.

Kenny has made more than 600 appearances during a playing career which has also seen him play for the likes of Bradford Park Avenue, Bury, Sheffield United, Queens Park Rangers and Leeds United.
