Stelios Giannakopoulos is lending a helping hand to Bolton, by joining the club's search for new recruits and scouting for players in Greece.

Giannakopoulos, who was a Wanderers player from 2003 until 2008, scored 28 goals in 177 appearances for the Trotters before completing a move to Hull City after his release from the Reebok Stadium.

After ending his playing career with a spell at Larissa, the 40-year-old stepped into management with an unsuccessful five-month stint at Paniliakos - a club he represented between 1993 and 1996.

Stelios, a regular visitor to Bolton, was paraded on the Macron Stadium pitch last month and it has now emerged that he is helping to bring the next generation of players to the club by assisting with scouting in his homeland.

Following in the footsteps of Gudni Bergsson, Gretar Steinsson and Per Frandsen, who have all recommended players to Wanderers over the last couple of years, Giannakopoulos' involvement could turn out to be another masterstoke in terms of rebuilding the fragmented relationship between the club and its supporters.
