Bury manager David Flitcroft is hopeful of securing a second loan spell for Hayden White, who will return to Bolton next week.

White moved to the JD Stadium in November, but a three-match ban for a dismissal during a previous loan spell at Carlisle United meant he had to wait for his debut.

The 19-year-old suffered a knee injury on his first outing for the Shakers, which restricted him to just one further appearance - Saturday's 3-2 victory at Northampton Town, in which he picked up a four-match suspension as a result of his second straight red card of the campaign.

Although clearly frustrated at the defender's lack of playing time, Flitcroft remains keen on working with the former Sheffield Wednesday youngster and may make a fresh move to Wanderers counterpart Neil Lennon in the coming weeks.

"I feel for him because I believe he is the sort of player that will flourish in and around our environment," Flitcroft told the Bury Times.

"There is a player in there. He is the quickest player in the league. I really think he could gain a lot by being with us.

"But it has been stop start. I have not been able to get in a rhythm with him and I want to.

"There is a real passion in him that I feel, if I could unlock and give him a cause then the kid can fly.

"He needs a lot of work and I would love to be that person to work with him.

"I am not too sure if I will get that opportunity, but it is one we will see."

White has made five senior appearances since moving to Macron Stadium in the summer of 2013, but finds himself behind the likes of Josh Vela, Kevin McNaughton and Oscar Threlkeld in the pecking order and is likely to head out on loan again during the second half of the season.
