Bolton boss Neil Lennon hopes to meet with Alex Baptiste, in an attempt to figure out whether the player has a future at Macron Stadium.

Baptiste joined Wanderers on a free transfer from Blackpool in July 2013 and made 43 appearances during his debut season at the club, scoring four goals. After initially impressing in an unfamiliar right-back position, a series of poor displays saw him fall out of favour under previous boss Dougie Freedman.

The 28-year-old, who has 18 months remaining on his Bolton contract, completed a season-long loan move to Blackburn Rovers last summer and when quizzed about the player's future, Lennon suggested he may get the opportunity to discuss the situation when Rovers face Wanderers on Boxing Day.

"I haven't had chance to speak to the player or his representatives yet, so I don't know," Lennon said.

"Maybe I'll get the chance to see him on Boxing Day to see how he's feeling about things.

"We've inherited this situation. It's something I haven't really had time to digest but we will do going forward."
