Owen Garvan will return to Crystal Palace this week, after a disappointing loan spell at Bolton that has provided him with just three appearances.

Garvan joined Wanderers in September, with then-boss Dougie Freedman opting to boost his midfield ranks following injuries to players such as Mark Davies, Liam Trotter, Josh Vela and Andy Kellett.

The 26-year-old started in games against Sheffield Wednesday, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Derby County, respectively, but has failed to make a matchday squad since Neil Lennon's appointment as manager in October.

After playing 32 times as Palace won promotion to the Premier League, in 2013, Garvan has played just four games for the Eagles since then and spent the second half of last season on loan at Millwall.

His return to Selhurst Park is unlikely to present him with a first-team opportunity, presenting manager Neil Warnock with a situation where he may decide to cash in on the former Republic of Ireland under-21 international in the January transfer window.
