Reports on Monday afternoon, emanating from Iceland, suggest Eidur Gudjohnsen has re-signed for Bolton on a deal which will run until the end of the season.

Gudjohnsen has spent the last three weeks on trial with Wanderers and has seemingly done enough to impress manager Neil Lennon, who looks set to make the 36-year-old his first signing since taking charge of the club in October.

Having left Bolton in 2000, following a successful two-year spell at the Reebok Stadium, Gudjohnsen has gone on to represent clubs such as Chelsea, Barcelona and Monaco during a glittering career - which has seen him pick up a number of major honours across Europe.

Gudjohnsen produced a Man of the Match performance in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Bury last week and is pencilled in to feature in the club's development squad fixture against Middlesbrough on Monday night.

Should he emerge unscathed from the game, he could be in contention to make his second Bolton debut when they travel to Reading on Saturday.
