Neil Lennon thought his Bolton side were below-par, but was delighted to see them secure victory against Huddersfield Town.

Craig Davies' goal midway through the second-half gave Wanderers all three points in a closely contested affair at Macron Stadium, as they leapfrogged their opponents to move up to 18th in the Championship table.

Speaking after the game, Lennon admitted he was thankful for the performance of his goalkeeper - Andy Lonergan - and thought his side deserved their win by settling down after scoring their goal.

"We're delighted with the result - it's a big win for us," Lennon told the club's official website.

"It was a difficult game and a bit of a slog at times. For large periods it seemed as if the game could have gone either way.

"I always felt that the first goal was going to be crucial and once we got it I felt we were really good. Prior to that though, we had to rely on our goalkeeper to make a couple of really good saves.

"Andrew Lonergan has kept us in it with the save just after half time. It was a crucial point in the match. It caps a very good week for him - he was outstanding today and he is also celebrating the birth of a baby girl.

"We were okay in the first half and improved after the interval. Going forward, I'd like to see us start games a little bit better than we have in recent weeks.

"We improved after the goal went in and it looked as if we could have gone on and got a second. I'm delighted with that.

"We're in a confident mood right now and we're slowly moving up the league table. Our immediate priority has always been to climb away from the foot of the division.

"Our form has been very good of late and that is of course pleasing."
