Jermaine Beckford's time at Bolton appears to be at an end, after he was allowed to join Preston North End on loan.

Beckford will move to Deepdale on a deal which will initially run until January, after which it will be extended through until the end of the season - when his contract at Macron Stadium expires.

The 30-year-old, who joined Wanderers from Leicester City in the summer of 2013, has scored 11 goals in 51 appearances for the Trotters and won the club's Golden Boot award last season, with a tally of nine goals in his debut campaign with the club.

The move across Lancashire sees him reunited with Simon Grayson, who was manager during their time together at Leeds United and Huddersfield Town, respectively, and Beckford admits he is looking forward to working under his stewardship once again.

"I have worked with them (the management team) before and I know what they are about and what they are like and they know what I am like and hopefully we can continue the good relationship we've started over the last few years," Beckford told Preston's official website.

"In football, it is one of those professions were you meet lots of people all the time and play with different people and I have had the pleasure to work with quite a few of the boys and I am looking forward to working
with them all again.

"The boys have scored lots of goals this season and last season, and it is something I am hoping to help with and continue with."

Grayson echoed the views of his latest recruit and says a signing of Beckford's quality can help the Lilywhites achieve their goal of promotion to the Championship.

"You only want to bring in players that you feel will enhance the squad and add to the level of competition that you have and we feel that Jermaine will do that," Grayson said.

"I have worked with him twice before and he has a fantastic goal record. He has played in the Premier League and everyone knows what he is about and I think it's a big coup for us."
