Lee Chung-Yong won his 64th international cap on Tuesday, playing 90 minutes in South Korea's 1-0 defeat to Iran.

After coming off the bench as a late substitute in last week's victory over Jordan, the Bolton midfielder was restored to a starting role at the Azadi Stadium, in Tehran, as Uli Stielike's side fell to defeat against the country ranked 51st in the world.

The game's only goal arrived in the 82nd minute, as a free-kick from the edge of the South Korea box struck the inside of both posts before being tapped home by Rubin Kazan forward Sardar Azmoun.

Tempers flared in the closing stages, as the Korean players reacted poorly to timewasting tactics from their Iranian counterparts.

South Korea's next action will be on January 10, when they face Oman in their opening fixture of the 2015 Asian Cup - the start of a period where Wanderers are almost certain to be without Chung-Yong for anywhere up to three weeks.
