Chris Eagles could line up against former club Bolton on Saturday, after signing a short-term contract with Blackpool.

Eagles has been without a club since leaving Wanderers at the end of June, after a three-year spell at the Reebok Stadium came to a disappointing end under then first-team manager Dougie Freedman.

The former Manchester United midfielder, who celebrates his 29th birthday on Wednesday, recently rejected an offer to join Millwall and has now put pen to paper on a deal which will see him stay at Bloomfield Road until January 18, 2015.

Speaking about his move to the Championship's bottom club, Eagles said: "I've got to do what I love to do best, and that is to excite the crowd, score and create. What I've seen of the club and staff so far has been brilliant.

"I'm chomping at the bit. I've obviously played against Blackpool before, the fans are brilliant with the drum at home, so I'll be looking forward to that."

Eagles, who also lists Watford, Sheffield Wednesday and NEC Nijmegan among his former clubs, joined Bolton from Burnley in the summer of 2011 and went on to make a total of 106 appearances, scoring 19 goals, during his time with the Trotters.
