David Wheater and Sanmi Odelusi both stepped out for Bolton's development squad on Monday, as they made their respective returns from injury.

Wheater has been out of action since August, having suffered a slipped disc prior to a defeat at Leeds United, while Odelusi has been on the sidelines for six months after tearing an anterior cruciate ligament whilst on loan at MK Dons.

Both players featured for Wanderers' second-string at Derby County, as a strong side, including names such as Medo Kamara, Liam Trotter, Josh Vela and Robert Hall, looked to impress new first-team manager Neil Lennon.

Wheater completed 90 minutes at the Impact Arena, but there will be more to come from Odelusi - who replaced Conor Wilkinson for the closing stages of the game.

Max Clayton opened the scoring with 56 minutes played, as he curled a stunning free-kick beyond Rams goalkeeper Jonathan Mitchell. Derby earned a point, however, when Mason Bennett fired home from the penalty spot with 13 minutes to go, after Kamara had brought down Alban Bunjaku inside the Bolton box.
