Norwich City boss Neil Adams has rejected speculation linking Gary Hooper with a loan move to Bolton.

Reports over the weekend suggested Wanderers manager Neil Lennon had set his sights on securing a deal for the former Celtic forward, having previously worked with him during their time at Parkhead.

Hooper scored 82 goals in 137 appearances during his time in Scotland, before completing a £5million move to Carrow Road in July 2013. He netted eight times in his debut Premier League campaign, as the Canaries were relegated to the Championship, and has been restricted to just two appearances this season because of a niggling calf injury.

When quizzed about the future of the 26-year-old, Adams told reporters that Hooper remains in his first-team plans and he will turn down any approach he may receive for a player once tipped for international honours.

"You do get enquiries and it's going to happen more and more as we come to January, certainly for taking players on loan," Adams told Eastern Daily Press.

"Gary Hooper, his place is here, he was involved on Saturday, I think he looks sharper now, he looks more lively.

"We know what he can do, he can finish as good as anybody, he's part of what we need here now.

"If the phone goes it will be 'thanks for the enquiry, but I need him here'."
