Lee Chung-Yong won his 62nd international cap on Tuesday, playing 90 minutes in South Korea's 3-1 defeat to Costa Rica.

Following on from a 2-0 victory over Paraguay last Friday, South Korea failed to make it back-to-back wins under the new management of Uli Stielike as they crashed to defeat at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.

Costa Rica, who are ranked 15th in the world, went ahead eight minutes before the break as Celso Borges latched on to Bryan Ruiz's header before firing past Kim Seung-Gyu in the Korean goal.

The hosts levelled in first-half stoppage time, though, as Lee Dong-Gook got in front of his marker to turn home Son Heung-Min's pass and make the score 1-1 going into the break.

With parity restored, it didn't take long for the away side to take the lead for a second time - as Borges got on the scoresheet again with a cheeky backheel, after being picked out by David Ramirez.

Despite the best attempts of South Korea, Costa Rica secured the victory 12 minutes from time when Oscar Duarte pounced on a mistake from Seung-Gyu to head home a Ruiz corner.

Ki Sung-Yong had a late goal ruled out for offside, as South Korea's alarming slide down the world rankings looks set to continue.

They return to action on November 13, when they face Jordan, four days before they travel to Iran - as they end the year with two international friendlies.
