Conor Wilkinson will return to Bolton next week, with his loan spell at Oldham Athletic set to expire on Saturday.

Wilkinson has spent the last month at Boundary Park, making five appearances for the Latics, but will not be given the option of extending his stay following the recent departure of Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman.

The 19-year-old is likely to face Walsall at the weekend, but Oldham boss Lee Johnson says the Trotters' managerial situation will prevent him from negotiating a fresh deal.

"I am disappointed to lose Conor but I'm delighted for him as he has had a really good spell," Johnson told Oldham's official website.

"It's a completely understandable decision as a new manager will want to bring everybody back to assess what they have. He is certainly a player we have enjoyed working with and would love to have back."
