Kevin Davies believes Bolton will be inundated with applications for their vacant managerial post and admits he would consider an approach from the club.

Davies, who currently plays for Preston North End, spent 10 years with Wanderers, between 2003 and 2013, and will forever be known as one of the all-time greats to play for the club.

The Trotters are currently searching for a successor to Dougie Freedman, who was sacked on Friday, and when asked if he'd be interested in taking up the role, Davies said he would be willing to talk to the Bolton hierarchy.

"There'll be no shortage of takers to come and take this job because it's a fantastic football club - the stadium, the training ground and the support that they do generate," Davies told Sky Sports News HQ.

"I loved playing for them and I'm enjoying my time at Preston North End. I've had a three-and-a-half years there now and we're pushing for promotion to get into the Championship ourselves, but, I guess if the call did come, that would be something I would have to consider because I had 10 fantastic years at that place - but, at the same time, I'm enjoying my time at Preston.

"I've not played as much as I'd have liked but, if the phone call came, I'd probably have to consider it and I'm sure Preston would have that conversation with me but we'll see what happens."
