Hilary Devey, a television personality from shows such as Dragons' Den and The Intern, has told supporters she is 'considering' buying Bolton Wanderers.

Devey, who was born in the town, attended Bolton School as a child and is a self-made millionaire. She made her fortune in the haulage industry, having launced Pall-Ex in 1996, and is reported to be worth an estimated £100million.

Latest figures, released in December 2013, reported a £50.7million annual loss for Wanderers, for the financial year ending June 30, 2013 - taking the club's net debt to an all-time high of £163.8million.

Eddie Davies, the current owner of Bolton, took full control of the club in December 2003, having boosted his shareholding of Wanderers' parent company, Burnden Leisure Plc, from 29.7% to 94.5%. He played a major part in keeping the club alive following Gordon Hargreaves' sudden departure in the late 1990s, but appears to have halted his financial input following relegation from the Premier League in 2012.

While not activity promoting a sale, Wanderers chairman Phil Gartside has said on numerous occasions in recent years that Davies would consider genuine offers to purchase the club.

Devey, who was awarded a CBE in 2013 for services to the transport industry and charity, is a well-known Trotters supporter, although it remains unclear whether her response to supporters was genuine or simply humorous.
