Bolton defender Hayden White has joined League Two basement club Carlisle United on an emergency one-month loan deal.

White, who joined Wanderers from Sheffield Wednesday in June 2013, has made five senior appearances during his time with the Trotters - three of which have come this season, during the absence of Kevin McNaughton.

After missing the last few games through injury and illness, respectively, McNaughton is due to return to the side for the weekend trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers, providing White with an opportunity to play regular first-team football over the coming weeks - a move Cumbrians caretaker manager Paul Thirlwell believes will benefit all parties.

"Hayden is a right back who can play in a couple of positions along the back line," Thirlwell told Carlisle's official club website. "I think we all know we need a bit of strength in depth in that area at the moment so he will help us with that.

"He's a big, strong lad who is very mobile and who is a good one against one defender. He's the kind of player who will add value to what we're trying to do.

"I think part of the process of going through a season at any football club is that you're always looking at whether or not you can add to the squad. To be fair to John (Nixon) and the board, they told us that if we could identify players who we could bring in then we should go ahead and do it.

"Hayden is one we have identified so Alan Moore went along to watch him on Monday night to confirm what we were all thinking. He had a good game and we're delighted we've been able to get the deal done.

"He's played in Bolton's first team recently and he's shown he's ready to take on the challenge of trying to get regular league football. He's a player who has quality and it's up to him to meet that challenge head on now.

"The situation we faced on Tuesday meant both of our centre backs were unavailable and David Symington is the only right back in our squad, before we dip into the youth team. We need someone who can come in and give us options and we think Hayden fits that bill really well."

White will wear the number 26 shirt during his time at Brunton Park and could make his debut in Saturday's game at Mansfield Town.
