Jay Spearing has been voted as Bolton's Man of the Match in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Leeds United.

Spearing produced the kind of display that Wanderers supporters have been crying out for since his loan from Liverpool was made permanent last summer, and one that they will be hoping is a sign of things to come.

He saw off competition from Lee Chung-Yong and Joe Mason to claim the award - in a poll in which all votes from the city of Leeds were void, after 5,349 of them selected Trotters substitute Jermaine Beckford.

Nice try, Leeds fans, but we have measures in place to guard against the rigging of our polls.
