Liam Trotter is to miss up to 10 weeks of action after tearing his hamstring in Tuesday's League Cup victory at Crewe Alexandra.

Trotter went to ground shortly before half-time at the Alexandra Stadium and had to be replaced. He underwent a scan on Wednesday, with results confirming the extent of the problem.

The former Millwall midfielder had knee surgery over the summer, which caused him to miss the majority of pre-season, although it is unknown at this stage whether the injuries are linked.

After a spell on loan with Wanderers last season, Trotter made his move to Macron Stadium permanent at the start of July. In his two spells with the club, he has made a combined total of 21 appearances and scored one goal.
