Jeremy Simpson will referee Tuesday's Capital One Cup first round tie between Bolton Wanderers and Bury at the Macron Stadium.

Wanderers go into the game on the back of a 3-0 defeat at Watford on Saturday, while Bury were beaten 1-0 by Cheltenham Town on the opening day.

Simpson, who will take charge of the game, has officiated one match so far this season - issuing five yellow cards and one red.

His last outing was on August 9, when he was the man in the middle for Crawley Town's 1-0 victory at Barnsley in League One. The Lancashire official made the headlines in that game, by showing a straight red card to Tykes midfielder Dale Jennings.

Simpson's last match in charge of Bolton was in April, when Wanderers were 1-0 winners at Huddersfield Town. Two yellow cards were shown that day - one to each side.

He has never previously refereed a Bury fixture.

Below is the full set of officials for Tuesday's game between Bolton and Bury:

Referee: Jeremy Simpson
Assistant Referees: Shaun Hudson, Glen Hart
Fourth Official: Peter Bankes
