Bolton have dropped their interest in signing former Bristol City defender Liam Fontaine, who spent last week on trial with the club.
Fontaine is currently searching for a new club, after an eight-year spell at Ashton Gate drew to a close at the end of June, and featured twice for Wanderers' development squad during pre-season.
The 28-year-old was pencilled in to play a behind-closed-doors friendly against Udinese on Monday, but the game was cancelled at the last minute and he is no longer being considered a target for Trotters boss Dougie Freedman.
Fontaine spent the first half of last season on loan at Yeovil Town, but is thought to be looking for a deal at a Championship club - potentially ruling out a fourth career stint at Huish Park.
