Reports on Tuesday evening suggest Bolton have entered the race to sign Cardiff City forward Joe Mason on loan for a third time.
Mason had two separate loan spells with Wanderers last season, in which he scored six goals in 16 appearances, and looks set to leave the Cardiff City Stadium this summer following the signings of Federico Macheda, Adam Le Fondre and Javi Guerra.
Bolton boss Dougie Freedman had to watch on as Lukas Jutkiewicz moved to Burnley earlier in the month, but a loan move for Mason appears to be a more realistic prospect - which could see him link up with fellow Cardiff teammate Kevin McNaughton at the Macron Stadium.
According to The Bolton News, a deal could be finalised within the next 48 hours. Should that come to fruition, Mason could make his first outing for the club in Sunday's final pre-season friendly against Vitesse Arnhem.
