Bolton boss Dougie Freedman says Adam Bogdan and David Wheater are yet to see action in pre-season due to niggling injuries.

Both players, along with Liam Trotter, failed to feature in Wanderers' pre-season tour of Scandinavia, despite travelling overseas for the club's training camp.

Wheater has been seen training with protective strapping on his leg, while Bogdan, who has been linked with moves to both FSV Mainz and Fulham over the last fortnight, is said to have suffered a stress fracture of his back towards the end of last season.

Speaking to the club's official YouTube channel, Freedman said: "Adam is coming back from a stress fracture in his lower back at the end of last season, so he's coming back - he's due to play anytime now, so he'll be fine.

"Mark Davies and David Wheater, I'm just resting them.

"The thing is these days, with the scientific background that we've got, we know exactly how many minutes people are training, so everybody is geared up to play and train for as many minutes as they possibly can - spreading it out, so they all get the time on the pitch and on the training ground."
