Burnley appear to have beaten off competition from a host of Championship clubs, including Bolton, to complete the £1.5million transfer of Lukas Jutkiewicz.

Jutkiewicz's two-and-a-half year spell at Middlesbrough looked set to end earlier this year, when the 25-year-old moved to the Reebok Stadium for the second-half of last season - for whom he scored seven goals in 20 appearances.

Boro set an asking price of £1million earlier in the summer, prompting interest from clubs such as Wanderers, Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers, but it is Premier League new boys Burnley who look to have won the race for his signature, paying a fee of £1.5million that could eventually rise to over £2million.

The deal has yet to be officially confirmed by both parties, but Jutkiewicz is expected to fly out to Austria to meet his new teammates on Tuesday and could make his debut in a pre-season friendly against FC Grobklein on Sunday.
