Bolton boss Dougie Freedman was happy with his side's performance, as Wanderers won 1-0 at FC Vestsjaelland on Sunday.

Liam Feeney's 33rd minute tap in proved to be the difference between the two sides at the Harboe Arena in Slagelse, Denmark, as the Trotters made it two games unbeaten at the start of pre-season.

Speaking after the game, Freedman thought his side did enough to score more goals but praised the performance of his squad and the number of young players he has given an opportunity to.

"Once again, it was a fantastic workout for us," Freedman told the club's official website. "We've picked opposition who are going to give us a real test.

"I feel that the fitness levels of the guys who have come in have been very good and we need testing. That's exactly what we got today.

"We created enough opportunities to win the game more comfortably.

"In the last 20 minutes we did tire a little bit, but that's to be expected at this stage. I'm very happy with where we are right now.

"We are trying to play in a different way. I've always said I want us to play the ball through midfield and be a little bit more patient.

"There are a few factors you look at at this stage. Obviously seeing the players get minutes under their belts is good, as is seeing our younger players involved.

"Also, let's not forget, we won the game. You can never underestimate the confidence that gives you.

"We've had a tough week training the players, which is exactly what they need going into games."
